2 multi-vehicle pileups slowing traffic around San Luis Obispo

Two multi-vehicle pileups, including one with a motorcycle, are slowing traffic around San Luis Obispo.

The first crash appears to have occurred around 5:30 p.m. next to the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport on Kendall Road and Highway 227. That one involved two cars and a motorcycle.

The reporting party said one of the two involved vehicles appeared to have been rear ended by a motorcyclist, according to CHP’s incident report page.

One person was taken to French Hospital Medical Center.

The cars are still in the roadway, but traffic is moving around them on the shoulder.

CHP is on scene investigating. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, Cal Fire and San Luis Obispo Police were all on scene as of 6 p.m.

Another three-vehicle incident was reported at almost the same time at Los Osos Valley Road and Foothill Boulevard, according to CHP’s incident report page.

The three involved vehicles were blocking westbound traffic on Los Osos Valley Road as of 5:50 p.m., according to scanner traffic.

It is unclear the exact circumstances of the latter incident. Emergency responders are on scene at both crashes.
