San Luis Obispo police on Friday warned residents to steer clear of Grand Avenue and Monterey Street due to a gas leak.

Fire crews were called to the intersection about 10:30 a.m. after a private contractor struck a gas line while digging in the area, said Sgt. Bryan Treanor.

No evacuations have been ordered at this time, Treanor said. It’s unclear how long it will take crews to fix the leak.
