If you hear booming in the North County, here’s why

If you live in the North County, you might hear loud noises and see more military vehicles over the next few months.

Camp Roberts will host increased military training over that time, according to a news release. It is unclear for exactly how long the training will take place.

If you live in the area, you might hear some of that training in late January and early February, when weapons ranges become more active, Camp Roberts officials said.

Residents will also see more military vehicles on the roads and more soldiers frequenting local businesses.

Air operations will not increase and will occur mainly during the hours of 6 a.m. and 11:30 p.m., officials said. Flight paths will also be limited to “minimally populated” areas.

The Mission Street on-ramp could be shut down for a few days in late January, when officials expect a significant rise in rail activity.

Additional details were not immediately available.
