Site work has begun at the home of the future SLO Public Market at Bonetti Ranch at the corner of Tank Farm Road and South Higuera Street.

On Friday, workers dismantled an old windmill.

The San Luis Obispo project envisions a public marketplace complete with a produce stand, wine and cheese shop and brewery, according to the website of project architect Ten Over Studio.

Plans for Bonetti Ranch, a block from the shopping center housing Trader Joe’s, have been approved. The project by developer Taylor Judkins is undergoing building permit review, according to the city, which is one of the final steps before construction begins.
