1 person killed in car crash near San Miguel

One person was killed in a vehicle crash Friday near Ranchita Canyon and Nickel Creek roads near San Miguel, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The person was reportedly not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle in the 3700 block of Ranchita Canyon Road, according to the police scanner.

The vehicle reportedly went about 30 feet off the road and down an embankment, CHP said.

The crash was first reported at 3:49 p.m., according to the CHP Incident Information Page. At 6:15 p.m., a CHP spokesperson confirmed one person died in the crash and that officers were still on scene investigating.

A San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said deputies responded to the scene but could not offer additional information.
