Update: The city’s interest list was temporarily down because of a high interest in sign-ups, but it has upgraded its service and the interest list is now active again.

If you’re hoping to buy an affordable home in San Luis Obispo, the city wants to help.

San Luis Obispo has created a notification system on the city’s website where potential buyers can sign up to receive alerts when affordable homes become available.

The website includes a guide to Affordable Housing Standards to help residents determine if they meet income limitations for a potential unit’s affordability level.

The city also included information about how to proceed with buying an affordable home, getting pre-qualified for a loan and placing an offer on a home.

City officials note they don’t manage or own affordable units, nor do they handle wait lists, including for the city council-approved Avila Ranch and San Luis Ranch developments.
