L.A. woman dies in Highway 46 collision east of Paso Robles

A Los Angeles woman died on Highway 46 just east of Paso Robles after making a sudden left turn in front of an oncoming pickup Friday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman, whose name and age have not been released, was driving a 2011 Honda Fit westbound at 8:47 p.m. and stopped in the left-turn lane to pull onto Geneseo Road. As she turned, a 2015 GMC utility truck driven by 44-year-old Charles Bradshaw of Santa Maria collided into the passenger side, sending both vehicles off the highway and into an embankment.

Officers said the woman died of her injuries at the scene, while Bradshaw said he was experiencing back pain and would seek treatment.

The accident remains under investigation.
