Person rescued after falling down cliff at Pirate’s Cove
Emergency personnel rescued a person who fell and became stranded on a cliff at Pirate’s Cove about 2 p.m. Sunday.
A Cal Fire spokesman said a person attempted to reach the beach by descending a cliff with a rope. Initial reports indicated the person might have fallen an unknown distance and was injured, but the spokesman said that had not been confirmed.
A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter heading up the coast from Point Mugu to assist with a separate search-and-rescue operation north of Cayucos was diverted to Pirate’s Cove. At 3:11 p.m., Cal Fire tweeted that the patient had been retrieved by the Coast Guard and was being taken to a hospital.
Two Cal Fire engines and a rescue unit also responded to the area for the operation.
