‘Miracle on the Hudson’ pilot to speak at Cal Poly
Capt. Chesley Sullenberger, the hero pilot better known as “Sully,” will visit San Luis Obispo in November to speak at Cal Poly.
The retired airline captain, who became known for safely executing a dramatic emergency landing on the Hudson River in 2009, is expected to share his story of leadership under pressure, according to a news release.
Proceeds from the Nov. 30 event at the Performing Arts Center will go to Cal Poly’s Center for Leadership, the university said.
Sullenberger was played by Tom Hanks in the 2016 movie “Sully,” which was based on the autobiography “Highest Duty,” written by Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow.
Tickets for the event go on sale on Wednesday, Oct. 4, and range from $40 to $150, the university said. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Cal Poly Ticket Office Monday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. or at https://tickets.calpoly.edu.
