If you haven’t gone whale watching yet, now’s the time.
Whales have been spotted off the coast of Cayucos recently.
Although that is expected for this time of year, “for the last several years, each season has been better than the last,” said Kevin Winfield, owner and operator of Morro Bay Whale Watching. Winfield’s company sails from Point Buchon, south of Montaña de Oro State Park, to Point Estero, south of the Harmony Headlands State Park.
On Monday morning, Winfield said, one of his tour groups saw a dozen whales.

“They showed up in early April and it’s just been a great season,” he said.
