A commercial semitruck carrying 6,200 gallons of crude oil rolled off a road near Arroyo Grande on Friday evening, Cal Fire SLO officials said.
The semitruck rolled about 15 feet off the road on the 700 block of Guadalupe Road near Highway 1 and Willow Road, Cal Fire spokesman Chris Elms said.
About 5 gallons of oil spilled onto the ground, Elms said, and the hazmat unit was on scene assisting with cleanup. The broken valve leaking the oil was repaired, and authorities were working with the semitruck’s owner to pump the remaining oil out of the tanker.
The driver did not require medical attention, Elms said. Traffic was not affected by the accident, and the California Highway Patrol was handling the investigation.
