Rescue crews are searching off the coast of Port San Luis for a 35-year-old Arroyo Grande man who fell out of an inflatable fishing vessel, according to the U.S. Coast Guard in Morro Bay.

Authorities responded to a call from another boater around noon saying the man was fishing with one other person when he fell into the water approximately three miles off the coast and did not resurface.

A Coast Guard vessel and helicopter, Port San Luis Harbor Patrol, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office dive team, a CHP helicopter and rescue divers are assisting with the search.

The man had not been found as of 4:40 p.m. Friday, the Coast Guard said.

Crews planned to continue searching until 8:30 p.m. and then reassess the situation, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
