The Pentagon said it successfully shot down a mock warhead Tuesday with a “kill vehicle” launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base.

The interceptor was launched from the Central Coast and collided with its target over the Pacific Ocean. It hit an intercontinental ballistic missile similar to ones that might be used by North Korea or Iran, the Department of Defense said.
