The Santa Margarita branch of the San Luis Obispo County Library launched its seed-lending library on Saturday.

It is the fourth branch to do so, offering flowers, herbs and shrubs best suited for local growing conditions.

With a library card, patrons can check out up to five packets during each of the three growing seasons. The Santa Margarita branch’s seed-lending library is housed in an old card catalog.
