The skies threatened rain, but sunshine prevailed, and people brought dogs and kids to have photos taken with “Santa Paws” at Heilmann Dog Park inside Heilmann Regional Park in Atascadero on Saturday.

Chuck Dunlap, president of the board for Heilmann Dog Park, said Santa Paws is one of two yearly fundraisers they hold for the all-volunteer dog park, which is not funded by the county and depends on donations and grants. Dunlap said about 20 people had arrived for photos by 11 a.m.

“If people would like to donate to the dog park, they can visit our website, www.heilmanndogpark.com,” he said.

The event ran from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Holiday drinks and goodies were also served.
