The Apples and Honey Festival debuts Sept. 25 in downtown San Luis Obispo. The free event, which is sponsored by the JCC-Federation of San Luis Obispo, coincides with the start of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah.

It’s the latest event to celebrate the county’s autumn agricultural bounty. The Avila Apple Festival, which started last year, returns to Avila Beach this weekend. And the Golden Oak Honey Festival returns for a third year to Paso Robles on Oct. 22.

Highlights of the Apples and Honey Festival include apple-related crafts, artists’ booths, apple and honey tasting, baked goods and kosher hot dogs, music, face painting, bee education by See Canyon Fruit Ranch and storytelling by local children’s book author Bonnie Lady Lee.

The Apples and Honey Festival will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at JCC-Federation headquarters, 578 Marsh St. in San Luis Obispo. For information, call 805-426-5465 or visit www.jccslo.com/apples--honey.
