Low-income SLO County residents can get free eye care at 3-day clinic
Free eye exams and prescription glasses will be available to low-income and unhoused community members in San Luis Obispo County as part of a three-day clinic sponsored by local nonprofit groups.
Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo (CAPSLO) and SLO Noor Foundation invited the Vision Service Plan’s Vision Eyes of Hope program to come to town for an eye care clinic, according to a news release from VSP.
The Eyes of Hope clinic will be held Dec. 7 through 9 at 40 Prado Homeless Services Center, 40 Prado Road in San Luis Obispo.
Services will be available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
The eye care is delivered in Eyenstein, a 40-foot mobile clinic that functions as an eye doctor’s office on wheels, the release said.
Local optometrists will be volunteering their time to deliver free vision care at the Eyes for Hope mobile clinic, the release said. Many patients will be able to get their glasses on the day of their exam.
To pre-qualify and schedule an appointment, call SLO Noor at 805-439-1797.
