7 more COVID deaths reported as San Luis Obispo County nears another pandemic milestone
The coronavirus pandemic continues to march along in San Luis Obispo County with seven additional deaths and more than 240 new cases recorded in the past week.
The people who died range in age from 50-64, 65-84 and 85 and older, bringing the pandemic total to just shy of 500, at 496 people who have died due to the virus locally.
Although deaths continue, hospitalizations remain low. Five people were receiving treatment in area hospitals on Wednesday, according to the Public Health Department. No patients were in intensive care units.
Overall, San Luis Obispo County added 241 new coronavirus cases since last Wednesday, according to data from the county Public Health Department.
The daily new cases pushed the two-week case average to 34 as of Wednesday. That’s an increase from last week’s 14-day average of 27.
The number of active cases is now at 126. The last time cases were this low was in mid-July 2021.

In total, 53,353 San Luis Obispo County residents have tested positive for coronavirus since March 2020.
The agency on March 30 date released data showing unvaccinated people account for about 65% of COVID-19 cases, 75% of hospitalizations and 69% of deaths since June 15.
Over the past seven days these are the top coronavirus cases by city: 53 in San Luis Obispo, 37 in Paso Robles, 27 in Arroyo Grande.

Where to get a COVID-19 test and schedule a vaccine appointment
Free coronavirus testing is available at clinics in San Luis Obispo, Grover Beach and Paso Robles. The Morro Bay testing site closed permanently on March 30.

Testing is administered at 801 Grand Ave in San Luis Obispo, 1336 Ramona Ave #A in Grover Beach, 209 Surf St. in Morro Bay and 800 Pine Street in Paso Robles.

The county Public Health Department is also administering vaccines and boosters on a walk-in basis at public health clinics in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles and Grover Beach.
