SLO County adds 26 new COVID-19 cases — and 2 deaths
San Luis Obispo County added 26 new cases of coronavirus and reported two additional deaths on Wednesday, according to ReadySLO.org.
“Sadly, two more of our neighbors have succumbed to COVID-19, bringing our number of COVID-19 deaths to 29,” the county Public Health Department wrote via Twitter.
One of the residents who died due to coronavirus was in their 30s, the county said, while the other was in their 40s. Both had underlying medical conditions.
A total number of 3,479 people have tested positive for COVID-19 locally since March.
Effective Tuesday, San Luis Obispo County is in California’s red COVID-19 tier — meaning that coronavirus spread has been “substantial” but is no longer “widespread” and more business sectors may reopen.
As of Tuesday, the county had a positivity rate of 1.5%, well below the 8% threshold needed for the red tier.
In the cases-per-100,000-tests metric, the county sat at 3.5 as of Tuesday, well below the threshold of seven needed to drop down.
