Sixth SLO County sheriff’s deputy tests positive for COVID-19
A third patrol deputy with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to the agency.
Two days after developing symptoms and getting tested for coronavirus, the deputy’s results came back positive, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
The deputy was reportedly not in contact with the public while symptomatic and had been based at the Sheriff’s Office’s main headquarters, the release said.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, no one else in the workplace was believed to have been exposed because the deputy was wearing a mask while on duty.
The deputy is currently at home recovering.
The person is the sixth Sheriff’s Office deputy to test positive for COVID-19 in San Luis Obispo County.
The first sheriff’s deputy tested positive July 19 and the second tested positive July 29. Three other deputies who have tested positive for coronavirus are correctional deputies who work at the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
In July, four inmates at the San Luis Obispo County Jail tested positive for COVID-19.
There have been no new coronavirus cases among inmates at the San Luis Obispo County jail in more than four weeks, according to the news release.
