SLO County adds 4 new coronavirus cases — all in Atascadero

San Luis Obispo County added four confirmed coronavirus cases on Wednesday, according to ReadySLO.org. A total of 306 local residents have now tested positive for COVID-19 since March.

All four of the newest coronavirus patients were from Atascadero.

Of the total COVID-19 cases, 30 are active.

SLO County’s COVID-19 cases by the numbers

A majority of San Luis Obispo County residents who’ve tested positive for COVID-19 — 275 — have completely recovered from the illness, with three new recoveries reported since Tuesday.

Twenty-six people are still recovering at home. Four patients are receiving hospital treatment, and two patients are in intensive care units.

One local resident has died from COVID-19.

There was no increase in cases in Paso Robles since Friday. However, the North County city continues to have the most COVID-19 cases in the county with 122.

Atascadero has 44 cases, Arroyo Grande has 24 cases, Nipomo has 31 cases, San Luis Obispo has 22 cases and the California Men’s Colony has 11 cases.

Pismo Beach and San Miguel both have nine, Templeton has 10, and Morro Bay has seven cases. Other areas — defined as cities or communities with fewer than five cases — have 17 cases altogether.

Seventy-eight cases involve people ages 50 to 64, and 51 cases involve people age 65 and older.

There are 146 residents aged 18 to 49 who’ve tested positive for COVID-19. The remaining 31 cases involve people ages 17 and younger.

The county has determined 54 patients acquired the virus through travel, 142 acquired it through person-to-person contact and 105 contracted it through community spread.

The county has not determined the route of transmission for one cases.

Private and public health labs have performed a combined total of 13,017 tests. Between Tuesday and Wednesday, labs performed 332 tests for county residents.

The county’s Public Health lab has conducted 3,577 tests with 91 positive results. Private labs have conducted at least 9,440 tests with 215 positive results.

Private labs have reported negative results to the county since April 13.

When and where to get a COVID-19 test

As of Monday, free state testing is available in San Luis Obispo at 801 Grand Ave. on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Testing continues at the Grover Beach location at Ramona Garden Park Center at 993 Ramona Ave. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays.

Testing will also be available in the El Camino Real Homeless Organization (ECHO) parking lot at 6370 Atascadero Ave. in Atascadero from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, and Thursday, June 11.
