SLO County adds 2 new COVID-19 case as California’s case count passes 100,000

Two new coronavirus case in San Luis Obispo County was reported on Thursday — and 268 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since March, according to ReadySLO.org.
One new case was reported in an area with less than five cases and the other is in Nipomo. One more person has been hospitalized and there are now four patients in the intensive care unit.
The county has reported more than 10,000 residents tested between the county Public Health Department and private labs Wednesday.
SLO County’s COVID-19 cases by the numbers
Of the 268 local residents who’ve tested positive for COVID-19, 243 have completely recovered from the illness.
Twenty people are still recovering at home, and four patients are receiving hospital treatment; all of whom are in intensive care units.
One local resident has died from COVID-19.
Paso Robles continues to have the most COVID-19 cases in the county with 112. Atascadero has 38 cases, Arroyo Grande has 22, Nipomo has 21, San Luis Obispo has 18, and California Men’s Colony has 11.
Pismo Beach and San Miguel both have nine cases and Templeton has eight cases and Morro Bay has six. Other areas — defined as cities or communities with fewer than five cases — have 14 cases altogether.
Sixty-eight cases involve people ages 50 to 64, and 48 cases are ages 65 and older.
There are 127 residents aged 18 to 49 who’ve tested positive for COVID-19. The remaining 25 cases involved people ages 17 and younger.
The county has determined the route of transmission for 49 patients was travel related, while 125 were person-to-person contact and 89 have been contracted through community spread.
The county has not determined the route of transmission for four cases.
Public Health and private labs conducted 212 COVID-19 tests in San Luis Obispo County between Tuesday and Wednesday.
The county’s Public Health lab has conducted 2,962 tests with 88 positive results. Private labs have conducted at least 7,370 tests with 179 positive results.
Private labs have reported negative results to the county since April 13.
As of Thursday, 1,790,559 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in California, according to the state Department of Public Health. California passed 100,000 residents who have tested positive for the virus on Thursday.
According to the state Department of Public Health, 101,697 residents have tested positive for COVID-19, and 3,973 people have died.
In Santa Barbara County, 1,64 residents have tested positive for coronavirus as of Wednesday, with 20 new cases. Of the new cases, 12 were in Santa Maria, bringing the city’s total to 297.
Of the Santa Barbara County cases, 1,396 residents have recovered and 12 have died.
When and where to get a COVID-19 test
Two free coronavirus testing clinics are open in Grover Beach and Paso Robles with a capacity to test up to a combined 260 tests a day.
Testing is available by appointment only between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Paso Robles Veterans Hall, 240 Scott St. in Paso Robles, and Ramona Garden Community Center, 993 Ramona Ave. in Grover Beach.

Testing is also available through private healthcare providers, urgent care centers and the County Public Health Lab.
