Newsom on Wednesday further clarified one of the six criteria that the state will use when it comes to deciding whether to reopen. Newsom said that while the state is currently testing 16,000 people a day, the short term goal is to be testing 60,000 to 80,000 a day.

While the governor said “there is no date” set for the state to reopen, the governor said hospitals can begin scheduling essential, non-emergency surgeries.
