Watch firefighters help German shepherd breathe after rescue from California fire
Firefighters from the Compton Fire Department made a harrowing rescue last weekend of a dog now recovering at a local veterinarian.
Video posted April 18 by the fire department shows the California firefighters administering oxygen to a German shepherd. The department said the firefighters extinguished a fire in a single-story building and found the dog trapped inside during their search.
The firefighters “immediately began measures to assist the dog with oxygen” due to suffering smoke inhalation, they wrote in the video posted on Instagram.
The dog is seen in the video panting heavily before the oxygen mask was put on him. But he appeared to be all smiles in a photo the fire department posted on Instagram.
“We are happy to say that he made an outstanding recovery after he was given treatment by our members!” the fire department wrote. “He was taken to a veterinarian where he continues to receive proper care.”
