A new study analyzed more than 10 years of Powerball wins and losses to identify the luckiest and unluckiest numbers in the national lottery game.

The study by Travcash.se studied Powerball results since October 2015 to identify the most and least commonly drawn numbers, as well as the most overdue.

Powerball is played in 45 states along with Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The base jackpot is $20 million but, the jackpot increases each time there is no winner.

About 181 million people play Powerball in the United States each year, the site said.

What are the luckiest Powerball numbers?

The analysis found that 21 and 61 were the most commonly drawn winning numbers, with both being part of jackpot-winning combinations 112 times since October 2015.

Other top-drawn numbers include 23, 33, 69, 32 and 27, the analysis found.

What are the unluckiest Powerball numbers?

The least drawn Powerball number was 13, which has been drawn just 66 times in winning combinations since October 2015.

Other least-drawn numbers include 49, 26, 46, 34 and 65.

What number is overdue to hit in Powerball?

The number 38 has not been part of a winning combination since March 2025, the study found.

How to play Powerball lottery game

To score a jackpot in Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball. The white balls range from 1 to 69, and the Powerball ranges from 1 to 26.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

When is the next Powerball drawing?

Powerball drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time and can be streamed online.

The next drawing will be Wednesday, May 6.
