Where is everyone going? This ZIP code among hottest California areas for movers
A new survey of U.S. ZIP codes with the highest influx of new residents showed one spot in Sacramento is the hottest place to move to in the state.
Moving resource website MovingPlace published its monthly report of the “Hottest ZIP Codes in America,” which tracked the number of moves per capita in each ZIP code to find the regions with the most movement during March.
In California, a Sacramento ZIP code took the top spot.
Here’s where people are moving to in Sacramento.
How did MovingPlace determine the trendiest places to move in the U.S.?
The moving resources site reportedly analyzes millions of relocation records in the country every year, using data from home services software company Porch Group.
With this data, the MovingPlace team analyzes the origin and destination ZIP codes for thousands of moves each month. Moves within the same ZIP code and moves originating from a different ZIP code are both counted.
The monthly study ranks ZIP codes by the number of moves per each 1,000 current residents.
“The moves per capita metric highlights the ZIP codes experiencing the most intense migration relative to their population size,” a news release from MovingPlace read. “This allows smaller or less densely populated areas with unusually high migration activity to stand out as truly hot ZIP codes.”
Where in Sacramento is the most popular ZIP code to move into?
The trendiest ZIP code in the entire state of California during March was 95811 in Sacramento.
This ZIP code covers a C-shaped area around the capital’s downtown core, spanning much of Southside Park, Richmond Grove, western portions of midtown, the River District and the Railyards.
During March, there were 6.6 moves per capita into this ZIP code, the most of any in the state.
“This part of the city is often described as the cultural hub making it popular with new movers looking to have easy access to metro’s nightlife, parks, and events,” MovingPlace’s news release said.
What other California ZIP codes have a lot of movement?
Multiple parts of California had a respectably high influx of new residents during March.
