Woman arrested in connection with fatal shooting of Obdulia Sanchez in Stockton
The San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in the alleged fatal shooting of Obdulia Sanchez, who became notorious for livestreaming a DUI crash that killed her sister in Merced County in July 2017.
Sanchez died after a drive-by shooting in Stockton on Dec. 2.
On Thursday, detectives served search warrants in the 2000 block of East 6th Street and the 700 block of San Miguel Avenue in Stockton in connection with the shooting investigation.
The San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office identified Monica Barajas as the suspect in the shooting, according to a sheriff’s office Facebook post.
Barajas was taken into custody and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on charges of murder and attempted murder, the post said.
An adult male was also wounded in the shooting, but survived his injuries.
Sanchez — 18 at the time — was livestreaming herself while driving when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a field near the intersection of Henry Miller Road and Highway 140, north of Los Banos.
The crash killed her 14-year-old sister, Jacqueline Sanchez, and injured Jacqueline’s 14-year-old girlfriend, Manuela Ceja.
