Ever wanted your own radio station? Seaside Santa Cruz property comes with two
For $8.9 million, you can purchase two radio stations in Santa Cruz — along with a station perched over an ocean lagoon.
Radio station KSCO comes with the property at 2300 Portola Drive, the listing by Tene Shake said.
Its sister station, KOMY, broadcasts from the same building and also comes with the purchase, SF Gate said.
The property comes with a radio facility equipped with “studio space, offices, and technical infrastructure” for an asking price of $8.9 million, the listing said.
The roughly 1-acre property along East Cliff’s Corcoran Lagoon also includes a two-car garage, diesel generator building, concrete parking lot, patio and bomb shelter along with three working radio towers, SF Gate said.
Owner and seller Michael Zwerling called it “a unique, historic, operating heritage radio station that could and should be a tourist attraction,” the publication said.
KSCO NewsTalk Radio (AM 1080 / FM 104.1) has been broadcasting in Santa Cruz since 1947, the listing said. It’s known as “Santa Cruz’s Own.”
Photos with the listing show the cliffside facility with three radio antennas anchored in the lagoon.
