California weed hotel is among world’s best places to stay, Time says. Here’s where it is

A cannabis-themed hotel in Northern California is among the best places in the world for a weekend trip, according to Time magazine.

The publication recently released its list of the World’s Greatest Places to Stay in 2024, singling out 50 spots across the globe.

Mine + Farm Inn in Guerneville is “a modern take on old-fashioned B&Bs” that cultivates cannabis on site and offers special marijuana-themed retreats, Time said.

It was the only California destination to make the list.

What makes California hotel one of World’s Greatest Places to Stay?

“The radiant green valleys of Sonoma County are famous for their vineyards,” Time said. “But at Mine + Farm in the small town of Guerneville, outside the 805-acre Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, a different green is part of a unique guest experience.”

Business and life partners Suzanne Szostak and Bryce Skolfield transformed the former fruit and hops farm in the Russian River Valley into a cannabis-friendly lodge on 2.5 acres of land.

Drawing 80% of its energy from on-site solar panels, the sustainability-minded bed-and-breakfast offers meals made with fresh ingredients from its gardens and locally sourced wine, beer, cider and snacks.

Other amenities at the nine-room inn include fire pits, a hot tub and “tons of indoor and outdoor games,” the hotel said on its website.

“Home-grown cannabis is the premier amenity, doled out in pre-rolls for guests to consume outdoors on the lush lawn or under the shady terrace, by the ping-pong table, or from the hot tub,” Time said.

Folks staying overnight can book private dinners with weed-infused menus or enjoy marijuana-themed getaway weekend packages with “dining, educational and interactive experiences using cannabis cultivated on-site,” Mine + Farm said.

What other US spots made the list?

Although international destinations dominated Time’s picks for the best places to stay across the globe, a dozen lodgings across the United States made the unnumbered list.

How did Time comes up with its 2024 rankings?

To compile its 2024 list of the World’s Greatest Places to Stay and Visit, Time said it solicited nominations of places — including hotels, cruises, restaurants, attractions, museums and parks — from an international network of correspondents and contributors with “an eye toward those offering new and exciting experiences.”

Time also accepted applications from “establishments that stand out in their field and the world,” the publication said.
