Another California lawmaker was arrested on suspicion of DUI, this time in Los Angeles

For the second time in six months, a California lawmaker was busted for allegedly driving under the influence.

This time, it was Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo, D-Los Angeles.

Los Angeles police responded to reports of a motorist crashing into two parked vehicles early Friday morning, according to the Los Angeles Times. The motorist later was identified as Carrillo, who was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content of twice the legal limit or more.

Carrillo’s office did not respond to The Sacramento Bee’s request for comment by deadline. In a statement to KTLA, Carrillo said she takes responsibility for her actions and apologized to her family, constituents, colleagues and staff.

“I intend to seek the necessary help and support. As I do so, I remain dedicated to my family, my constituents and the community that I grew-up in and am proud to represent,” Carrillo told KTLA.

Carrillo is currently running for a seat on the Los Angeles City Council that is currently held by embattled Councilmember Kevin de León.

In May, State Sen. Dave Min, D-Irvine, who is running to succeed Democratic Rep. Katie Porter in Congress, was arrested for driving under the influence.
