Video: Newsom wants to ‘move the needle’ on climate issue in meeting with Xi Jinping

California Governor Gavin Newsom holds a surprise meeting with China’s leader Xi Jinping in Beijing on Wednesday.

Newsom took a week-long tour of China in a push for cooperation on climate issues.

“We’re not going to move the needle on climate change unless the United States and China collaborate together,” the governor said in a video provided by the Associated Press. “The United States and China together represent over 40% of global emissions. And I wanted to express not just my desire to collaborate, but I wanted to substantively work to advance that effort. And we did so last few days.”
