This California city was named one of the world’s most breathtaking. See why

California has one of the most breathtaking places in the world, according to National Geographic.

The magazine released its annual review of the “25 breathtaking places and experiences for 2023and San Francisco made the list.

Writers, “Nat Geo explorers” and editorial teams from all over the world chose 25 places from 200 nominations, Amy Alipio, senior editor for National Geographic, told McClatchy News in an emailed statement.

Each place was selected in one of five categories: culture, nature, adventure, community and family.

“We curated this final list of 25 places that are timely, superlative, and uniquely representative of the category they are in,” Alipio said in the statement. “We aim for a mix of places that are geographically diverse and for an inclusive range of travelers.”
