A 29-year-old teacher has been arrested after being accused of exchanging sexual messages with a 14-year-old student in San Jose, California, police said.

On Sept. 23, officers were called to the 500 block of Dana Avenue on reports that a man was having “inappropriate sexual communications with a minor” through social media, according to the San Jose Police Department’s news release.

Investigators found out the suspect was a teacher at Hoover Middle school in San Jose and the victim went to Lincoln High School in San Jose, police said.

The two spoke through social media over a period of three weeks, officials said.

“During the conversations, the suspect solicited inappropriate images from the victim, and made arrangements to pick her up,” police said. “The suspect did pick up the victim on at least one occasion and drove her to school.”

On Sept. 25, officers arrested the suspect in the city of Hollister on suspicion of “felony sex crimes involving a minor,” police said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Detective Mike O’Grady at 4290@sanjoseca.gov or at 408-537-1381.

San Jose is about 60 miles southeast of San Francisco.
