Driver using flashing lights to pose as officer may have targeted others, CA cops say

Police in California say a man was caught impersonating a police officer on Wednesday, Aug. 3 — and may have fooled more residents before.

At about 8:30 p.m. near Euclid Street and Cerritos Avenue in Anaheim, officers responded to a suspicious vehicle using police-like emergency lights, according to a news release from the Anaheim Police Department. Behind the wheel was 35-year-old Tustin resident Richard Moore, police say.

After investigation by police, and other undisclosed evidence, Moore was arrested on accusations of impersonating police, the news release said.

Detectives said they suspect Moore may have posed as a cop before to target victims and are urging any residents contacted by Moore under the guise of being an officer to call Anaheim detective A. Pedroza at 714-765-1966.

Anaheim is located about 25 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
