Two people with guns opened fire on five people who ran out of gas in Union City, injuring two boys, California police reported.

The five people were pushing their vehicle to a gas station just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, when two people confronted them, Union City police said in a news release.

After a “verbal exchange,” the two opened fire, hitting a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, police said. Both boys were taken to hospitals but are expected to survive.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation continues, police said.
