California gas prices above $6 per gallon: See your county average on interactive map
California’s average per gallon price of regular gas has sat above $6 for roughly a week, hitting another record at nearly $6.07 Tuesday.
The average price of gas in Sacramento area reached a new record-high of just under $6.06, according to the American Automobile Association, up roughly 4 cents from last week.
The statewide average per gallon is up 5 cents from a week ago and nearly 50 cents from a month ago, according to the AAA.
Experts say these new prices might be here to stay in California, as state gasoline still faces supply pressures and high taxes.
Sacramento County first crossed the $6 average on May 18, according to county data provided by AAA. County averages differ slightly from metro-wide averages.
For a while, the highest recorded gas price average in Sacramento County was $5.73 per gallon of regular gas in late March.
Average gas prices remain high in the state compared to the rest of the country. Nationwide, the average is nearly $4.60, which is around $1.47 lower than California’s average.
