Watch as dog stranded 1,800 feet from shore gets pulled to safety on California beach
Clapping and cheers erupted as a dog was placed on the wet sand of a California beach, video shows.
A dog had just been rescued after it was pulled nearly 2,000 feet from shore while swimming at a cove near a state beach in Los Angeles County, rescuers said.
“Not your everyday ocean rescue, but we were sure happy to help this 4 legged friend make its way back to the beach,” Los Angeles County Lifeguards said Monday, Jan. 24, on Twitter. “Lifeguards launched a Rescue Watercraft from Zuma Beach after receiving a report of a dog swimming offshore.”
The brown dog was placed on a rescue sled and pulled about 1,800 feet to shore. A woman is heard screaming with joy as the dog makes it back to the beach, video shows.
The dog was reunited with its owners. Rescuers did not say if the dog was injured.
“While rescues like this one sure put a smile on our face,” rescuers said, “Lifeguards would like to remind beachgoers that dogs are not allowed on LA County Beaches.”
