‘Suspicious’ human remains found in charred vehicle in California field, cops say
Human remains found inside a burned-out vehicle in a Grass Valley, California, field are under investigation, authorities said.
Someone called the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office at 10:20 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, to report a burned vehicle off Amber Street, officials said in a news release.
Deputies found human remains inside the vehicle in a grassy area off the road, the release said. It’s under investigation as a suspicious death.
The remains and cause of the fire have not been identified, the release said.
The California Department of Justice, the California Highway Patrol, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, and California State University, Chico, anthropologists are assisting with the investigation.
