See new home on 10 acres with ocean views above Big Sur’s Ventana resort: $14.8M tag

Sitting above Ventana and Post Ranch Inn resorts along the Big Sur coast, an innovative new home sitting on 10 acres with unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean and mountains has hit the market for $14.8 million.

Up a gated private road, the three-bedroom, four-bath residence spans 2,038 square feet. The “dynamic design” of the two-level house took years of planning and four years to build, according to The Agency real estate firm.

The location and design of the home is makes the property so unique, said listing agent Paul Lester.

“This is that rare moment when the trifecta of superb real estate occurs: singular location, exquisite design, and sophisticated execution,” he told McClatchy Newspapers in an email. “To be clear — the owners have created a meticulous ... architectural compound, years in the making, that sits on 10 acres behind a gate one mile up from Ventana and Post Ranch Inn and offering the Big Sur coastline as your backyard. Well, that is truly exceptional and unparalleled. That is the true definition of one of kind.”

Lester, Aileen Comora and Daniel Stevenson of The Agency are the listing agents for the property at 47730 Coast Ridge Road. Construction finished in 2021. The estate emerged on the market in early October.

Designed with a fluid layout that allows for a flexible and creative use, there are essentially three primary suites to choose from, one being a standalone suite that can also operate as an artist loft (or) work space,” according to the listing. “Once in a lifetime location, minutes from one of the most spectacular coastlines in the world, this is a tour de force of dynamic design.”

The design incorporates board-form concrete, or a wood grain texture on the face of the concrete, and customized Corten steel siding, offering a weathered metal appearance. The home features a curved standing seam roof, giving a unique and modern look.

Inside, the “open plan kitchen, dining, and living spaces weave seamlessly together to expansive decks and patios on the main level,” the listing states.

An upper terrace wraps around the entire house with a rear patio connecting the two architectural structures. Redwood forest surrounds the compound, offering a quiet privacy.

There is a generous three gar garage/multi-function room that could serve as car gallery, gym, office or art studio.

The site is prepped for a solar system and includes 15,000 gallons of private water storage. The landscape features irrigated and drought tolerant plants.

Hiking trails on 10-acre site reach into the redwood forest of Big Sur. A vista above the roofline of the house “captures the full breath of this unequalled location,” according to the listing.
