A car chase ensued after police say, a thief stole a hearse with a body inside from outside a church in California, according to media reports.

The vehicle was stolen on Wednesday when another body was being transported from the SUV and the keys were left inside near St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Pasadena , the sheriff’s department told NBC Los Angeles.

LA County Sheriff’s Department urged the person who stole the vehicle to return it.

“Out of all the bad decisions you have made, at least make one good one & bring back the deceased person & casket inside the Navigator,” the LA County Sheriff’s Department’s official Twitter account posted.

Someone noticed the SUV and called police on Thursday morning, the Los Angeles Police Department told KTLA.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver didn’t stop and police began chasing it, the TV station reported. The SUV crashed on 110 Freeway.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to Fox2 that there was a dead body inside the vehicle but haven’t determined that it was the same missing body.

The driver was treated for injuries at a hospital and was arrested, Fox2 reported. The driver’s name was not released by police.
