Marston’s bar and restaurant to open location in Atascadero
Marston’s Bar & Grill’s new restaurant — along with meeting and event space — is set to open in Atascadero by the end of July.
The restaurant, Marston’s 101, will occupy 3,000-square-feet of the 5,000-square-foot mixed-use space at 9006 W. Front Road next to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites of Atascadero.
The 2,000-square-foot meeting and event space will be available for gatherings such as business meetings, reunions and wedding rehearsals. And it’s name, the Caladero Event Venue, gives a nod to local history.
Marston’s 101 will be a family restaurant, more upscale than the downtown San Luis Obispo spot, according to Josh Cantrell, an operating partner at the Atascadero location.
Cantrell co-owns the North County restaurant with business partners Jeff Marston and Tyler Phillips.
He expects to hold a soft opening mid-July, with a grand opening at the end of the month.
The industrial-themed restaurant will have a wood-fired oven, a full bar and a covered patio, Cantrell said. He added that the seasonal menu will differ from the San Luis Obispo eatery, describing the food as “California cuisine” with many farm-to-table options.
Head chef Michael Wood has previously worked at Robin’s Restaurant in Cambria and Foremost Wine Co. in San Luis Obispo.
The restaurant will be open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch served on Sundays and possibly Saturdays.
The event venue can accommodate about 150 people, and the restaurant space can seat about 130 people.
Marston’s 101 will cater many of the Caladero Event Venue events, but whether they will be the sole caterer is still undecided, said Jessica Sohi, director of sales and marketing at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites of Atascadero. Sohi and her husband Amar Sohi have operated the hotel since it opened in 2008.
Amar Sohi is co-owner and general manager of H&S Hospitality LLC, which owns the Marson’s 101 building and the land surrounding it.
Marston’s 101 is leasing the restaurant space, and the hotel will manage the event space. Cantrell and Sohi declined to disclose financial information.
