Wine Enthusiast magazine named Artisan in Paso Robles one of its 100 Best Wine Restaurants for 2016, grouping the eatery with 10 others selected for their “amazing laser-focused wine lists,” and the magazine noted Artisan’s commitment to serving food and wine from local producers.
Curated by wine director Shandi Kobayashi, Artisan’s wine list is exclusively from the Central Coast. The magazine editors wrote that this gives the staff a deep knowledge of the wines and how they pair with the food.
The restaurant’s proximity to the wineries featured on the list means the staff can often train directly with local winemakers, as well as the opportunity to bring the winemakers in for additional tastings.
“We are fortunate to be located in the heart of one of the most amazing wine producing areas in the United States,” said Kobayashi, who also oversees Artisan’s organic farm and runs the establishment with husband and chef/owner Chris Kobayashi and his brother Michael.
