Grocery Outlet Bargain Market is moving into the vacant Haggen Food & Pharmacy building in Los Osos and is slated to open this fall.

The company has signed a lease for the 22,500-square-foot space at 1130 Los Osos Valley Road and plans to remodel the former Haggen store, according to Vice President of Real Estate Bill Coyle. He said he hopes the store can open in early October.

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market, known for its discounted and bargain-priced goods, sells refrigerated and frozen foods, fresh produce, meat, organics, dry groceries, beer and wine, as well as household, health and beauty products.

“We love San Luis Obispo and the area, and our stores on the Central Coast do exceedingly well,” Coyle said. “We’ve had a lot of demand from a lot of people in the Los Osos/Morro Bay area.”

A typical Grocery Outlet Bargain Market store has a staff of about 30, with a pretty even mix of full- and part-time workers, Coyle said.

The new store will be the fourth Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in the county.

The others are in Atascadero, Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo.
