North and South County job fairs to host diverse employers
More than 20 employers from a variety of industries will attend North and South County job fairs scheduled for Thursday, March 24, and Wednesday, April 6.
The fairs are free and open to all ages. Career coaches will provide résumé assistance and interview preparation, and computers will be available for printing résumés.
San Luis Obispo County Office of Education, Founders Community Bank, Food 4 Less and Splash Café are among the businesses slated to attend each fair.
“(We targeted) employers who have entry-level positions and mid-level positions with room for growth and opportunity,” said Danielle Christensen, program manager for Henkles & McCoy GreenSmart Training Services.
Employers across a broad range of sectors will be present, hiring for full- and part-time openings, Christensen said. Several of the employers will be conducting interviews on-site.
The South County job fair is hosted by GreenSmart Training Services and San Luis Obispo County Workforce Development. Eckerd Workforce Development and San Luis Obispo County Workforce Development are hosting the North County fair.
Job-seekers will also have access to community resources at the event, including the Employment Development Department, RISE and Cuesta College.
“(The fair is) not just about employment, but it’s about furthering your skills and furthering yourself, improving your resume and advancing your career without having to get a four- or two-year degree,” said Christensen.
She anticipates 150 to 250 job-seekers at each of the job fairs.
