If you’ve visited or driven by Toyota San Luis Obispo recently, you’ve undoubtedly noticed that it’s getting a new facade.
In addition, sections of the building will be remodeled and expanded, and new lights, landscaping and a new car display platform will be added. The improvements are part of a nationwide project to give all Toyota dealerships an updated and similar look.
The dealership, which sells new and used Toyotas, is located at 12350 Los Osos Valley Road. John Frangie, who has owned and operated the business for more than 30 years, declined to disclose renovation costs.
The Toyota Image USA II makeover plan is designed to "protect and strengthen the brand identity," and "enhance capacity, maximize sales, improve market share and revenue," according to a national company website.

The improvements are different for every dealership, customized through a design process. Once a design is completed, the owner decides which recommended upgrades to do.
A 26-foot tall, 40-foot-wide walk-through portal is nearing completion at the entrance to the dealership’s exterior and interior car showrooms. The street-facing building facade has been reframed, parking lots have been repaved and the Los Osos Valley Road street frontage landscaping has been designed.
In addition, the customer service area is being remodeled and expanded, which includes the customer lounge, retail space and a service write-up addition.
Permits for the project were issued in May and work has proceeded aggressively to avoid winter rains, said general contractor Charlie Main of The Main Company. The project is expected to be completed by April 2016.
