The San Luis Obispo Wine Country Association has chosen San Luis Obispo County nonprofit Womenade as the beneficiary of charity money raised at its Harvest on the Coast Grand Tasting and Auction on Saturday.
Womenade is a network of community members who donate money, items and time to meet needs of county residents. Since being formed in 2003, Womenade has provided more than $430,000 in funds, as well as donated items, to provide dental and medical care, diapers, furniture, rent, gas, groceries and more, according to a news release. Referrals come from schools, medical professionals, county health departments and others.
“This organization stood out because of the scope of its outreach and funding that directly affect people in crisis. They provide an array of needs through referrals, with 100 percent of funds going directly to families and individuals within our community,” Heather Muran, executive director of the SLO Wine Country Association, said in a news release.
The tasting and auction will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Avila Beach Golf Resort. More than 60 establishments will provide food and wine, and winemakers will host an auction.
