Anita’s Pillow Pets closes Morro Bay store, renames SLO store

Anita’s Pillow Pets has closed its Morro Bay location and changed the name of its San Luis Obispo location.

Now called Anita’s Happy Place, the San Luis Obispo store has expanded its offerings to include apparel in addition to the line of My Pillow Pets plush stuffed animals it has sold since opening five years ago.

Owner Anita Halcyon of San Luis Obispo decided to close the Embarcadero location in Morro Bay to simplify the business.

“Do what you like and like what you do. I am trying to walk the talk,” she said.

Halcyon declined to disclose annual revenues, but said that the changes were not motivated by money.

Her San Luis Obispo store will now carry the Life Is Good line of apparel and accessories, which features optimistic slogans and images. A grand reopening will take place Thursday through Sunday at 741 Higuera St.
