A  Thai restaurant in San Luis Obispo’s historic Railroad District has changed hands.

Anek Thammuenyong has sold the San Luis Obispo location of Thai Elephant to his cousin, Ae Sirisophonwatthanakul, who opened My Thai in its place at 1815 Osos St.

Returning customers will find the atmosphere and décor virtually unchanged at My Thai, although the menu is different, Sirisophonwatthanakul said. She sold a Thai restaurant in San Pedro to move to the Central Coast and opened My Thai last month.

My Thai offers a wide range of Thai fusion cuisine, including crab noodles, as well as expanded appetizers, including filet mignon skewers and fresh tuna tartar, she said.

Thammuenyong still offers his vegan specialties along with traditional Thai dishes at Thai Elephant’s original location in Atascadero, which has been open for six years, he said.

Thammuenyong sold the San Luis Obispo location because managing two restaurants proved tiring, he said. He had opened the San Luis Obispo location in 2010 as a vegan Thai restaurant, but soon expanded his offerings to stay in business. He said the business was profitable when he sold it last month.
