Paso Robles Airport has a new restaurant
The Paso Robles Airport has a new restaurant.
First Class Café, which offers breakfast and lunch, is owned by Head Chef John Carswell, who also owns SLO’s Finest Catering. He was asked to rent the space at 4912 Wing Way in Paso Robles after catering for airplane charters out of Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo.
The approximately 1,000-square-foot space had been empty for a year and a half before Carswell opened the gourmet café July 14; its grand opening is slated for Sept. 14.
Moderate renovations took three and a half to four months to complete, Carswell said, declining to disclose his investment. The space includes indoor and outside patio seating, as well as a bar.Carswell, who is still hiring staff, said that he intends to employ 10 to 15 part-time employees.
The café specializes in locally sourced produce, organic foods and homemade dressings. It offers breakfast foods such as pastries, French toast, egg breakfast combos and breakfast burritos with prices ranging from $2.75 to $16. The lunch menu includes appetizers, salads and sandwiches ranging from $5 to $16.
The café is open weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed weekends; it can be booked in the evening for private events or large groups.
A 25 percent discount is being offered to local residents, airport travelers and military personnel through Sept. 22.
