Paso Robles Mexican restaurant is closing — but you can still get its food. Here’s how
A Paso Robles restaurant that has offered authentic Mexican cuisine for over nine years is about to shut its doors — but this won’t be the last opportunity to eat the food.
Órale Taqueria’s last day operating as a brick-and-mortar restaurant will be Saturday.
The closure paves the way for owners Kristin and Joel Casillas to focus on their catering company full-time.
“We’ve cherished every moment spent in our restaurant and are deeply grateful for the relationships we’ve built with you—our loyal customers, amazing staff, and the wonderful Paso Robles community,” Kristin Casillas wrote in a Facebook post Tuesday.
For nine years, the Casillas family has operated Órale Taqueria, located in downtown Paso Robles, offering authentic Mexican food options, from tacos to flautas.
In 2017, the couple was asked to cater their first wedding. From then on, the company has operated as both a restaurant and a caterer, regularly serving weddings, parties and other events.
But operating two arms of a business demands a lot of time, Kristin Casillas told The Tribune.
“It’s a hard decision,” she said. “We love owning the restaurant, it’s so much fun. But it’s also — it’s always on. Even when we’re closed, it’s on.”
The owners said they are looking forward to finding balance in the new chapter of their life. They plan on spending more time with their two children, going to their soccer practices, school activities and extracurricular events.
Casillas told The Tribune she’s thankful for the community’s support.
“We have the best staff and the best customers and the best vendors,” Casillas said. “We feel really fortunate that we have the luxury to pivot. Not everybody has that.”
The Órale Taqueria catering company has events scheduled from November through the end of 2025. The restaurant closure will not impact the catering line-up, Casillas said.
